A surprise in the driveway.

So- it’s been quite a day. I spent most of the day working on orders, but I had a few errands I couldn’t put off. All went smoothly and I found some organic cotton socks on clearance too (I’m a sock junkie) so I was humming cheerfully as I pulled into the driveway- till I had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting the COUPLE THAT WERE HAVING SEX IN THE DRIVEWAY. Fortunately I didn’t hit them.

Well, ok… they were dragonflies. But they were huge and colorful and very involved in what they were doing. I don’t think they even noticed I was there. I thought mating season was over…

Had you going though, didn’t I? Hehe. Anyway they went on their way unscathed.

A little while later the doorbell rang. I was expecting it to be the League of Decency or something, here to complain about the disgraceful goings on in front of my house, but actually it was my super nice neighbor with armloads of fresh fruit and garden veggies to share. Fresh green beans and tomatoes… Bliss! So we chatted for a few and then I went back to work. I expect to have a few things finished tomorrow which will be just lovely. I have a few commissions on my list at the moment, and every time I finish one I get that warm fuzzy glow of accomplishment.

Craft Attack! 09

It has been a while since we have been able to make an update on the site, but things have been quite busy around here.

Mostly AcornGirl has been working on a backlog of orders that are getting shipped out all over the world every few days.  She has also been working on getting some new items added to her Etsy shop.

On top of all that we have all been busy working on Craft Attack! 09.  Come out and see us there if you can, this turned out to be a great show last year and is shaping up to be another good one.  Craft Attack is an outdoor show, organized by the Hornet’s Nest Chapter of the North Carolina Etsy Street Team, and is a juried show of handmade art and crafts.  Should be a good time!

Zombie bunnies and new dolls…

I just finished up another custom order tonight and got it listed in my Etsy shop! The dollhouse family is for one of my favorite customers. She has the Mini Modern Blogspot and sets me wonderful new challenges with every order. Here’s a link if you want to see…
Doll House Family

Zombie Bunny Finger Puppets Then since I was at the computer anyway, I listed a Flock? Horde? Gaggle? of Zombie Bunnies that had been sitting around for a while. One more thing checked off on my “to do” list. Hehehe.

Home Again

Estes Park We went out to Colorado for a week to visit my family.  We spent the first part of the trip visiting my Father and Stepmother in Estes Park, and had a wonderful time.  The rest of the time we spent with my Aunt Pat who lives in the house I grew up in.  We stayed in my old bedroom (much changed now) and I was pleased to discover that the creepy closet no longer holds any terror for me at all.

Pat’s property borders the Garden of the Gods state park, so her house gets my vote for best back yard ever.  We did some hiking and climbing around on the rocks…  great fun.

Enameling Class with Pat Musick Before we left, Pat gave us a quick class in enameling.  This is more impressive than it sounds because my Aunt is that incredibly rare thing, a self supporting artist.  She goes all over the world doing calligraphy and enameling for monasteries, colleges, and so on…  Here is a quick link to her site Pat Musick.
